The XGE Interfaces Extension Package

The XGE (Xoreax Grid Engine) Interfaces extension package allows use of IncrediBuild's distribution technology to distribute processes managed by make tools (gmake, SCons, JAM and others), scripts and custom applications. Virtually any potentially distributable MS Windows-based process can be accelerated through the technology. Thanks to XGE Virtualization technology, all remotely performed tasks fully emulate the initiating machine's environment and file system, eliminating the need to copy files or install applications on remote machines.

Featured Interfaces

The XGE Interfaces extension package features three distribution interfaces:
  1. XML Interface – Use this interface to distribute a complex process defined in XML format.
  2. Automatic Interception Interface - Use this interface to automatically distribute processes spawned by make tools and applications supporting Local Parallel Task Execution.
  3. Submission Interface - Use this interface to directly submit distributable tasks to the Grid Engine from scripts and applications.

Distributed jobs from all XGE Interfaces can be executed using the xgConsole.exe command line interface.

Distribution of Custom Build Steps, Custom Build Rules and Build Events in MS Visual Studio

The XGE Interfaces extension package also enables distribution of non-compilation tasks in MS Visual Studio projects. Using the XGE Interfaces package, custom build steps, custom build rules and build events (pre-build, post-build, etc) can be easily distributed. For more information, see this section.
